Michelle Dockery was born and raised in the city of Essex on the southwest of England. After graduating from secondary school, she enrolled at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London. At her graduation in 2004, Michelle Dockery was awarded the Gold Medal for Drama.
A year later, the actress made her television debut by playing a minor role in the mini-series Fingersmith. However, she acquired public recognition after she starred in the 2010 historical drama television series Downton Abbey. Michelle played Lady Mary Crawley and received strong critical acclaim for her work. The actress received Emmy and Golden Globe nominations but did not win a single award.
Michelle Dockery reached her peak of popularity in 2019 when she finally appeared on the silver screen. The actress has starred in the Downton Abbey film alongside other stars of the television series. Later in 2019, she joined the main cast of the crime comedy film The Gentlemen directed by Guy Ritchie. She replaced Kate Beckinsale who had to decide to decline the role due to an illness in her family.
In 2020, you will be able to see Michelle Dockery in the crime drama miniseries Defending Jacob alongside Chris Evans and Jaeden Martell. It tells the story of a married couple dealing with the accusation that their teenage son may be a murderer.
